Running. At Night. In the Rain. With a Cold.

Boy, does it get any wetter than this?  It’s been raining non-stop for 3 days in So Cal!  And they’re calling for rain through Wednesday.  Tonight I went out for a 10 miler and, despite a stubborn chest cold, I felt pretty good.  Even though the weather sucked, rain and wind in my face the whole way, it felt good to just be out there.  It kind of reminded me of a quote by distance runner Dave Bedford, who said “Running is a lot like life.  Only 10% is exciting.  Ninety percent is slog and drudge”.

Thank you, slog and drudge!

LOVE that quote! Comming from Vancouver, BC, I get the rain too... nonstop, and probably till March.

That weather sounds a lot like its been on the East coast. I ran a sixteen miler Saturday and it rained like crazy. I loved it!!!

Been wanting to ask......
.... Is running 50-100 at one time on a treadmill still considered an "ultra" to you hard core ultra-ers?! ;)

EMZ, I'm going to withhold comment on that one. I think it is a personal question. I'm sure there are some that would say no, and some that would say yes. Hell, I know some ultra runners who don't consider running 100 miles on a track a real ultra. To each his own, or whatever works...
